A few months ago, my house was broken into, and one of the items stolen was an Xbox 360. This morning, I got an interesting email in my inbox:
"Purchase confirmation for Xbox Live 3 mo. Gold Membership"

Obviously, since I no longer own an Xb

I'm working on a little browser simulation of pandemic virus outbreaks. The first thing I needed was a list of countries and their populations and locations, but while I could find all this data separately, I couldn't find it compiled together anywh

I started back up on my zombie game the other day, with the approach of ditching the attempt at fancy graphics, and focusing on building a minimalistic but playable game.

So despite the horrible, awful reviews it's been getting, I recently picked up SimCity Societies. It's actually a very interesting game, with relatively deep gameplay obscured by a horribly shallow exterior. I'll write up a full review eventuall

Like every other person I know who's enjoyed a computer game at some point in their life, I'm anxiously awaiting next year's release of Will Wright's Spore. If you're not one of those people, Spore is like a mash-

Last week, Microsoft released a new dashboard update for the Xbox 360. I don't use mine for much except Dead Rising and Fight Night, so I never bothered to hook i

There's a new site out there called Volity (as in frivolity, get it?), which has accomplished something very interesting for game designers. They've created an open source platform for hosting online mul

I'm working on a couple more zombie games, to expand into more practical genres than live action nerf wars. The concept spewed forth from my brain as if dictated by some sort of Zombie Jesus (with a help from Mike and Mandi, as well), so less than 24 hours later I'm already prepared to create a prototype. It came out of a thought I had that I'd love to see a zombie RTS.

[thumb:1285:l]We just got back from Zombie Nerf War last night, and I declare it a success! We had a bit of trouble getting started, as usual. Since we switched it to Sunday, a number of people we

Mike and I are designing the most ridiculous board game ever. It's about a struggle on a tropical island between Zombies, Pirates, Ninja, Robots, and Marines.

I decided to pick up some new board games for this weekend, but my local game shop, Legends, sucks. I checked out a few online shops, but they either didn't have a good selection, had a crappy website, or

Get together next Saturday, 1/28 at 10:30am for Board Games. Risk, Civilization, Settlers of Catan, and whatever you want to bring will be voted on.

We can do it at my place again, but if anyone has a slightly bigger room with a slightly bigger t

So I threw a LAN party here at VMT last Friday. It wound down pretty quick, and soon enough there were only 4 of us left, not nearly enough for a satisfying game of UT2k4. So we decided to play Risk for a while.

At that moment, I discovered how much I really miss playing strategy games with other smart people. I hadn't had a regular gaming group together since middle school, but I think it's time to start one up again. Mike is also interested, so with two of us devoted to this, we should be able to put something together and keep it going.

Our first official game date will be Friday, 1/13 at around 7pm, at my house. We'll play Risk (possibly the mission risk variant), and I think I also have Nuclear War laying around. Should be a pretty casual event. I believe we've already got 6 players, but if anybody else is interested we could probably break it up into teams, or even play a more complex game like Avalon Hill Civilization.
